Babysitting Essentials Course without Certification
Join us for an informative and hands-on Babysitting Essentials course, designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to confidently care for children in a variety of situations. This comprehensive class covers key topics, including safety, child care/development, simple first aid and CPR, and professional development. Students will also practice essential skills to ensure they are prepared for emergency scenarios and day-to-day childcare responsibilities.
Course Topics Include:
- Safety Skills: Learn how to prevent unsafe situations and respond effectively in emergencies such as power failures and weather-related crises.
- Child Care Skills: Gain valuable tips on managing children's behavior, as well as an understanding of child development stages and best practices for tasks like diapering.
- CPR and First Aid: Learn and practice critical life-saving techniques, such as choking rescue and CPR. This course does not result in a CPR or First Aid certification but will cover the necessary skills to save a life.
- Life & Business Skills: Prepare for future success by learning how to screen jobs, discuss fees, and interact professionally with employers. Role-playing scenarios will help reinforce these concepts.
- Games and Skills Practice: Reinforce learning in a fun and interactive way through games and hands-on practice.
- Guided Discussion & Digital Presentation: Visual aids and group discussions will help solidify key concepts, ensuring students engage and retain important information.

- Date: June 30th, 2025
- Time: 9:30 AM – 4:00 PM
- Location: Meeting Room A, Grimes Public Library
- Minimum Age Requirement: 11 years old. (Going into 6th grade). Class is appropriate for any teen wanting to babysit
- Cost: $70 per student
- Lunch: A 30-minute lunch break will be provided; bring a sack lunch.
- Attire: Loose fitted clothing for kneeling during the CPR portion of class.
