If your child isn’t quite ready to babysit but is interested in staying home alone, Safe@Home is a great first step! This class teaches kids how to stay safe when they are home alone for short periods of time.

They will learn what to do in situations like:

• Power outages
• Weather emergencies
• Minor injuries (like a nosebleed)

Once your child feels confident staying home alone, they’ll be ready for Safe Sitter®!

Is My Child Ready?

There’s no set age when kids are automatically ready to stay home alone. It depends on their maturity, confidence, and comfort level — and it’s important that parents agree their child is ready and can support them as needed.

Age Recommendation

The minimum age for this course is 9 years old (or in the second half of 3rd grade). Each student will receive a booklet at class. If an older sibling takes the course, we encourage parents to review the material with younger children until they are old enough to attend.

Registration Reminders

• Please enter your child’s first and last name during registration.
• Parent/guardian names will be collected during checkout.

Cancellation Policy

• No refunds for no-call, no-show on class day.
• If your child is ill and cannot attend, please contact: Jessica@DesMoinesCPR.com or text/call 515-423-0332.
• Full refund for cancellations made more than 2 weeks before class.
• 50% refund for cancellations within 2 weeks of class.
