If your child isn’t quite ready to babysit but is interested in staying home alone, Safe@Home is a great first step! This class teaches kids how to stay safe when they are home alone for short periods of time. Indoor safety, outdoor safety, online safety, and personal safety topics will all be discussed.

They will learn what to do in situations like:

• Power outages
• Weather emergencies
• Minor injuries (like a nosebleed)

Once your child feels confident staying home alone, they’ll be ready for Safe Sitter®!

Is My Child Ready?

There’s no set age when kids are automatically ready to stay home alone. It depends on their maturity, confidence, and comfort level — and it’s important that parents agree their child is ready and can support them as needed.

Age Recommendation

The minimum age for this course is 9 years old (or in the second half of 3rd grade) to 6th grade. Each student will receive a booklet at class. If an older sibling takes the course, we encourage parents to review the material with younger children until they are old enough to attend. Parents are not required to stay for class.

Registration Reminders

• Please enter your child’s first and last name during registration.
• Parent/guardian names will be collected during checkout.

Cancellation Policy

• No refunds for no-call, no-show on class day.
• If your child is ill and cannot attend, please contact: Jessica@DesMoinesCPR.com or text/call 515-423-0332.
• Full refund for cancellations made more than 2 weeks before class.
• 50% refund for cancellations within 2 weeks of class.
